It’s February, so you know what that means! Valentine’s Day right around the corner and love is in the air whether you like it or not. It’s safe to say that as much as gifts are a huge part of the holiday’s festivities, music also plays a huge part in setting the mood as well. R&B is usually them normal top choice genre for a romantic playlist on February 14, but I decided to dig a little deeper and create a list full of swoon-worthy rap lyrics that are sure to make any woman blush.

In no particular order, here are the top 14 Romantic Rap lyrics of ALL TIME, courtesy of my Twitter and Facebook followers.

1. LL Cool J – “I Need Love”

“I’ll search the whole world for that special girl.
When I finally find you watch our love unfurl.”

These lyrics are the reason why ladies love LL Cool J to this day.

2. Common – “Come Close”

“It’s destiny to we connected girl. You and I we can affect the world.
I’m tired of the fast lane, I want you to have my last name.”

That time Common took proposing to a whole new level.

3. Fabolous featuring Ne-Yo – “Make Me Better”

“You plus me, it equals better math.
Ya boy a good look, but she my better half.”

The song that made loving and acknowledging a good woman a trend. Even if that trend was short lived.

4. Method Man featuring Mary J. Blige – “You’re All I Need”

“I got a Love Jones for your body and your skin tone.
Five minutes alone, I’m already on the bone.”

We’re pretty sure every woman had no issue embracing their body and melanin after these lyrics. Thanks, Method Man.

5. LL Cool J – “Luv U Better”

“A toast to the queen, you’re back in my life, but this time I’mma do it right.
Trust me, from the bottom of my heart – Nothing’s gonna tear us apart, promise.”

Back when 106 & Park was lit and women couldn’t wait for this song to play on the countdown. That’s when we all knew: “Yep, LL’s still got it.”

6. The Roots featuring Erykah Badu – “You Got Me”

“Started building with her constantly around the clock,
now she’s in my world like hip hop.”

Classic. What else is there to say???

7. Busta Rhymes featuring Janet Jackson – “What’s it Gonna Be?”

“Better believe we gon’ shine, make your body wind.
Baby, the pleasure is all mine.”

Let’s be honest. No one really knew all the lyrics Busta rapped in this song, but the ones that we did hear were legendary.

8. JAY-Z featuring Pharrell – “Excuse Me Miss”

“Love let’s go half on a son, I know my past ain’t one
you can easily get past, but that chapter is done.”

Another win from Jay and Pharrell. Nothing new.

9. Common, “The Light”

“I never knew a luh, luh-luh, a love like this.
Gotta be something for me to write this.
Queen, I ain’t seen you in a minute.
Wrote this letter, and finally decide to send it.
Signed sealed delivered for us to grow together.
Love has no limit, let’s spend it slow forever.”

Fact: Every woman who could care less about hip hop, gave a damn after these lyrics.

10. Ja Rule featuring Lil’ Mo & Vita, “Put It On Me”

“Since we met it’s been you and I

A tear for a tear, baby eye for an eye.
And you know that my heart gon’ cry.
If you leave me lonely,
’cuz you not just my love you my homie.”

The only rapper who successfully managed to be a bad boy and hopeless romantic simultaneously.

11. Slick Rick – “Teenage Love”

“Precious times, hoping they won’t end
Tell you mother ‘bout your lover
Also your best friend
Ya mighty proud while you’re holding her hand.”

That time Slick Rick broke down the ways to treat a lady.

12. Diddy featuring Usher & Loon, “I Need A Girl”

“Anytime we together it feels so right.
You the girl I been looking for my whole life.
God bless me, I’m glad I got the insight.
It’s cuz of you girl, now I understand life.”

Remember when Diddy and J. Lo broke up and he dropped this song not long after??? We just knew every lyric was for her. And us, of course.

  1. Mase ft. Total, “What You Want”

“Girl, in my eyes you the baddest

The reason why I love you, you don’t like me cuz my status

I don’t wanna see you with a carriage living average

I wanna do my thing so we be established.”

More classic lyrics courtesy of Bad Boy: The 90’s edition.

14. Drake – “Best I Ever Had”

“Sweatpants, hair tied, chillin’ with no make-up on.

That’s when you’re the prettiest,

I hope that you don’t take it wrong.”

Did you think we could do a complete romantic rap lyrics list without mentioning Drake??? Please.

What lyrics would you add to this list??? Remember, while most couples are out buying gifts, make sure your playlist is on point to end the night just right.
