Say what you want Little Monsters, but you can't defend Lady Gaga on this one!
While performing at SXSW in Austin, Texas last night, Lady Gaga decided to switch things up by having a woman throw up on her on stage as she threw her head back in total bliss. Check it out below.
There were so many things that ran through my mind before I could fully understand what I had just watched. To be honest I still don't get it. Why would someone who has struggled with their own eating disorders and self-esteem issues do this on stage at one of the biggest festivals of the year??? WHY put this image on display? This surely wasn't done to help people love themselves and there's nothing artsy-fartsy about it so save that excuse for another insensitive publicity stunt.
Demi Lovato, another talented artist who has openly talked about struggling with an eating disorder, spoke out about her thoughts on Lady Gaga's bulimic act and got attacked for it.
Sad... As if we didn't have enough people glamorizing eat disorders already. 😣 Bottom line, it's not "cool" or "artsy" at all.— demetria lovato (@ddlovato) March 14, 2014
Would you let someone bring a needle and shoot up on you? Addiction is addiction.— demetria lovato (@ddlovato) March 14, 2014
It's not "shade" and it's not "hate". But someone has to come forward and say it and I'll take the heat for it. ✌️— demetria lovato (@ddlovato) March 14, 2014
Activists don't shut up. If no one raises their voice, how are we supposed to be heard?— demetria lovato (@ddlovato) March 14, 2014
All I'm saying is, artists in pop culture have influence on people.. Some of which are people who aren't ... http://t.co/rKZXz9Aieg— demetria lovato (@ddlovato) March 15, 2014
Ps. I'm still a little monster myself. ✌️✌️✌️💋💋💋— demetria lovato (@ddlovato) March 15, 2014
What's unfortunate is people try to defend this behavior. No matter how much of a fan that you are of Lady Gaga, right is right and wrong is wrong. I've personally never had an eating disorder but I completely understand where Demi Lovato is coming from with this one.
Stop calling stupid s**t art and wrapping a bow around it. If bulls**t and inconsiderate acts of "kindness" now are what we now consider gifts, you can keep it.
Sorry Little Monsters, no love lost for Gaga, just a lot of respect.
